The College Baseball Hall of Fame is finally getting a physical location, thanks, in part, to none other than Patrick Mahomes. The College Baseball Hall of Fame was introduced in 2004 by the College Baseball Foundation. Until this point, it has only had an online presence on their website (https://www.mlb.com/college-baseball-hall-of-fame). That will no longer be the case in 2025.
The College Baseball Hall of Fame will be located in Overland Park, Kansas inside of the existing Museum at Prairiefire. This is huge for not only us college baseball fans, but for the sport of college baseball as a whole. Located less than 3 hours from Omaha, Nebraska, this could make for one incredible weekend at the College World Series in 2025. There’s no hard date on when it will open, we’ve just been given the year 2025 at the moment, but it would make so much sense to aim to have it open by mid June for the CWS.
Believe it or not, Patrick Mahomes, known for his time as a pitcher at Texas Tech and not his 2 Super Bowl rings, was a key contributor in the financial support of this project. We all know his dad played in the MLB and Pat played college baseball at a high level and always loved baseball. “I’m excited for the College Baseball Hall of Fame to call Overland Park home and join the community that I love so much.” Mahomes says (MLB).
In the MLB whenever something crazy happens or when a milestone is broken, the players' cleats, batting gloves, jersey or bat always ends up in Cooperstown. I wonder what the first milestone to be broken or event to happen in college baseball that we witness live will have us saying: "We're going to see those cleats in Kansas." If Tennessee wins the College World Series this year, the pink Daddy hat and fur coat absolutely have to be in the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
